Jackson police are investigating a string of thefts of unlocked cars in the Indian Hills area. Lt. Jackson police are investigating a string of thefts of unlocked cars in the Indian Hills area.

Lt. Rodney Barnes said that the police department began receiving calls Tuesday morning from victims who reported items such as electronics, cameras and firearms stolen from their vehicles. No sign of forced entry was reported in any of the incidents.

Barnes said this has been a common occurrence, with similar break-ins happening throughout the summer.

An investigation continues in the matter, Barnes said. Anyone with information should call the police department at 243-3151.

"I'm amazed at some of the high-value items people are leaving here," Barnes said. "We have numerous suspects but unfortunately these cases are difficult to crack. It's very important for the public to realize they need to lock their vehicles and keep their valued possessions out of view."
