Beattie, Jones enjoy one-shot lead

Mary Ann Beattie and Tina Jones clung to a one-shot lead in the championship flight after Wednesday's opening round of the Rebecca's Run golf tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.

Beattie and Jones combined to shoot a 65 in the two-lady scramble. Today's final round will use a 4-ball format.

The team of Harriette Myers and Alice Temm and the team of Diane Chancellor and Kathy Glennon both sat a shot behind with 66s.

Jenny Orthwein and Nancy Walther combined to shoot a 67.

In A flight, the team of Liz Moore and Nancy Davidson shot a 74 for a one-stroke lead over the team of Janet Allen and Carol Amling and the team of Bonnie Bradley and Pam Heisel.

The team of Cindy Gotto and Lori Merrill, the team of Nanci Rosch and Ann Dollarhide and the team of Barbara Jones and Marge Solley all shot 79s for a three-way tie atop B flight.

The team of Vicky Gentry and Rhonda Bond and the team of Tina Rauch and Sandy Harris both shot 83s for first place in C flight. Janie Wheeler and Jeanne Cox shot an 84.
