Gregg "Uncle Deeg" August, 47, was called to his heavenly home Monday, Aug. 3, 2009.

He was born Dec. 3, 1961, to Doug and Velma Jane August. He was baptized into the Christian faith March 17, 1962, confirmed in his faith June 6, 1976, and was a lifelong member of Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.

Gregg graduated from Scott City High School in 1980 and continued his education at the University of Missouri-Columbia, earning a degree in electrical engineering and graduating with honors in 1986.

Gregg's heart was overflowing with love for his family and countless friends. He never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone. Anyone who knew him knew just what an outstanding and intelligent man he was; an inventor at heart.

He had many hobbies, each one he experienced and enjoyed to its fullest. Gregg enjoyed flying model airplanes, aircraft of all types, the occasional sky dive, robots, Star Wars, Star Trek, science fiction and his favorite, The Three Stooges.

Gregg traveled and lived in many places across the United States. His latest journey took him to Utah where he was excited to start another chapter in his book of life. He never landed too long in one place but always called Scott City home and was never afraid to try new things or embark on new adventures in his life.

Survivors include his parents of Scott City; a brother, Trent and wife Patti of Cape Girardeau; nephews Nick and Mitchell August of Cape Girardeau; godparents and aunt and uncle, Everett and Mary Lee Holder of Scott City.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Katherine Krieger and Mason and Josephine August.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City and from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Monday at Eisleben Lutheran Church.

The Rev. Bob Azinger will officiate. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
