Oran banged out four doubles as it opened its high school softball season with a 13-3 victory in five innings Tuesday at home against St. Vincent.

Baily Carlyle led the offense with a pair of doubles, while Halle Woodfin and Amanda Williams added a double apiece. Woodfin finished with three RBIs and Williams, Taylor Irwin and Shelbie Seyer had two each.

Claire Seyer notched the win on the mound, allowing seven hits. She struck out five and walked three.

Hannah Mudd had three hits for St. Vincent while Jacqueline Richardet had a double among her two hits.

Oran broke open the game with six runs innings in both the second and third innings.

Defending Illinois Class 1A state champion Cobden rolled to a five-inning no-hit victory against host Jackson.

Cobden pitcher DaCota Knop struck out nine batters, walked one and hit one in throwing the no-hitter.

Cobden, which was making its season debut, banged out 16 hits.

Hannah Thompson took the loss for Jackson (1-1).

Junior Kristen Powell threw a one-hitter as Kelly improved to 2-0 with its second straight strong pitching performance.

Powell, who struck out three and walked one in the five-inning game, followed up teammate Danielle Dock's no-hitter against East Carter in Monday's season opener. Sierra Miller's second-inning double was the lone hit allowed by Powell.

Dock had a double and had two of Kelly's three hits. Londyn Backfisch went 3 for 3 and Carissa Klipfel added two hits.

Hailey Enderle took the loss for Chaffee (0-2).

Sam Davis scored two goals as the Eagles opened their season with a shutout victory in Hillsboro, Mo.

Stephen Cohen had the other goal and also had an assist. Aaron Margrabe added an assist.

Jackson won all six singles sets as it improved to 2-0.
