Southeast Missouri State won two of the Ohio Valley Conference's three weekly awards for women's soccer.

Freshman Hayley Abbott is the OVC defensive player of the week, while freshman Kristen Starkey is the league's goalkeeper of the week.

The two were honored Tuesday for their performances over the weekend as Southeast beat Alabama A&M 10-0 and Northern Illinois 1-0.

Abbott had five points in the two games, including scoring the only goal against Northern Illinois. She had a goal and an assist against Alabama A&M.

Despite scoring twice, Abbott's primarily role is as a defender and she performed a key role during both shutouts.

Starkey made her first two collegiate starts and notched the shutouts, with a total of five saves.

Southeast (3-1) returns to action Friday against Western Michigan at the Northern Iowa tournament.
