Danielle Dock and Kristen Powell combined to silence the Tigers' offense. Dock struck out six over three innings before Powell struck out two in the final two innings.

Dock helped her cause with two hits and five RBIs.

Notre Dame SoftballFest

The host Bulldogs won their first two games in their own tournament to improve to 3-0 this season.

Jane Morrill and Lauren Reinagel each had a double in Notre Dame's 16-0 victory against Saxony Lutheran.

Notre Dame responded with a 10-0 thumping of Goreville.

Scott City opened the tournament with a 13-1 victory against Chaffee then dropped a 6-1 decision to Poplar Bluff.

Lindsay Hadley doubled twice while Macy Heisserer, Stacey Heisserer, Rachel Reed and Melanie Lacey tripled in the Rams' win.

Hadley added another double against the Mules.

Montana Estes took the loss for the Red Devils against Scott City.

Taylor Glueck smacked 10 kills to go with six digs as the Indians improved to 2-0.

Jill Rushin added nine kills, two blocks and 16 digs while Rachael Meyr had three kills, 12 assists, two aces, five digs and two blocks.

JV -- Jackson won 2-0

Notre Dame 25 25 Farmington 20 18

The Bulldogs opened their season with a victory behind five kills, three aces and 12 digs from senior Meghan Dohogne.

Allyson Bradshaw also had five kills while Amy Wibbenmeyer had four. Shannon Brennan recorded 17 assists and Lindsay Streiker had three blocks and three kills in the win.

JV -- Farmington won 2-1

Woodland tournament

Leopold and Advance will play for the title after both teams won their semifinal contests in two games.

Leopold beat Zalma 25-18, 25-15, while Advance downed Woodland 26-24, 25-15.

Saxony Lutheran knocked off Oak Ridge 25-12, 25-6 in consolation action. Tayler Beal put down four kills while Claire Grebing had eight digs in the Crusaders' win.

In the other consolation match, Meadow Heights beat Greenville 25-20, 25-13. Erin Bollmann recorded six kills and a block while Jill Mills had four kills and one block for the Panthers (1-1).

CROSS COUNTRY

Chester Invite

The Chaffee girls ran to victory with 34 points in their season opener in Chester, Ill.

Luisa Bochan won the race in 20 minutes, 3 seconds. Teammate Liz Schlosser was next to cross the line in 22:29.

Sarah Sigman also broke the top 10 with an eighth-place finish (24:42).

Rounding out the scoring for the Red Devils were Randi Wiley (11th, 25:09) and Cassie Hindman (15th, 25:46).

BOYS SOCCER

Notre Dame SoccerFest

Ryan Schlick scored a pair of goals to lead Jackson to a 4-1 victory against Anna-Jonesboro.

Brandon Liebeknecht stopped four shots to earn the win.

Law Duncan scored a goal and added an assist while Dylan Blaylock also scored in the Indians' season opener. Zach Taylor earned an assist in the win.

Jackson will face Saxony Lutheran after the Crusaders downed Carbondale, Ill., on penalty kicks after the teams played to a 2-2 tie.

Brent Rodewald scored both goals for Saxony Lutheran.

The other semifinal will pit Notre Dame against Marion, Ill. The host Bulldogs downed Sikeston 1-0 on a goal by Joe Froemsdorf with about 9 minutes left in the game. Jacob Pewitt posted the assist while James Holloway picked up the win in goal.

Marion downed Central 1-0.

Faith Community 4, Eagle Ridge 1

Eagle Ridge encountered its first loss of the season in the opening round of the Collinsville (Ill.) Christian tournament.

Aaron Margrabe scored early in the second half for Eagle Ridge (3-1), which trailed 2-0 at halftime. Roy Yoon assisted on the goal.
