Polices are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 25-year-old man in his Cape Girardeau home, Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton said Wednesday.

During early morning hours Sept. 11, Cape Girardeau police responded to a residence in the 100 block of North Park Drive. Chase Montgomery, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene, Clifton said.

Montgomery died of a single gunshot wound to the head, but Clifton declined comment as to whether the manner of death was homicide, suicide or an accident involving the gun, saying the investigation was inconclusive at this point.
