Marie Wachter

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marie R. Gerler Wachter, 91, of Perryville died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 29, 1914, at Shawneetown, daughter of Herman and Rosie Landgraf Bodenschatz. She first married Erhard Christian Gerler Sept. 3, 1939. He died Aug. 10, 1969. She and Fred Wachter were married April 4, 1976. He died in September 1978.

Wachter worked 22 years at Intersection Restaurant and Motel. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, Mo.

Survivors include three sons, Clinton Gerler of Frohna, Mo., Edgar Gerler of Gordonville, Vernold Gerler; two daughters, Delores Roth of St. Mary, Mo., Nancy Niswonger of Jackson; a stepson, Edgar Wachter of McClure, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Eileen Miller and Evelyn Illers of Jackson; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg from 4 to 9 p.m. today, and Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Charles Weber officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Cemetery.
