A recap of the local high school action Thursday that was reported to the Southeast Missourian.

The Leopold volleyball team rallied after dropping the second game to down host Jackson on Thursday night.

Kirsten Thele led the Wildcats with 12 kills and three aces in their 25-19, 23-25, 25-19 victory.

Abby Landewee added seven kills, five digs and three blocks, while Mackenzie Thele chipped in seven kills for the victors. Lauren Seiler had three aces, 25 assists and four digs for Leopold (18-2).

Jill Rushin led the Indians with eight kills, 11 digs and five blocks, while Rachael Meyr finished with three kills, eight digs and 20 assists.

Ashleigh Lawson recorded 13 digs for Jackson (18-7).

Notre Dame 25 25 Bell City 21 22

Meghan Dohogne smacked 10 kills and Allyson Bradshaw added four kills for the Bulldogs in their road win.

Shannon Brennan recorded 15 assists and three kills, while Kate Edwards chipped in three kills for Notre Dame (19-2).

Jasmine Johnson paced the Cubs (15-9) with 13 kills, six digs and four stuff blocks. Trisha Slagley added 21 assists and eight digs.

Scott City 25 25 Woodland 13 6

Stephanie Essner served three aces and put up 11 digs to help pace the Rams to the road win.

Katie Hogan put down 13 kills and added six digs, while Mikah Simpson finished with five kills and eight digs. Jordan McFall had 12 assists for Scott City (20-2).

Kaitlin McCormick had three kills, Ashley Acup added 10 digs and Becky Brannon put up nine assists for the Cardinals.

JV -- Scott City won 2-0

Meadow Hts 25 25 Saxony 17 15

Jillian Mills recorded four kills and two blocks while Erin Bollmann pounded nine kills to go with two blocks as the Panthers improved to 12-9.

Cassie Simpher and Holly Schermann had three kills apiece for Saxony Lutheran.

Lacey Hemman added seven assists while Sam Babcock had seven digs for the Crusaders.

JV -- Saxony Lutheran won 2-0

CROSS COUNTRY

Chaffee/Saxony Invite

Luisa Boschan finished more than 30 seconds faster than Saxony Lutheran's Kristin Dippold to win the girls race.

Boschan covered the course in 20 minutes, 59 seconds.

The Red Devils girls team finished second with 41 points, while Saxony Lutheran took third (47). Dexter won the title with 29 points.

Ethan Seyer, Stephen Bolen and Caleb Elam all finished in the top five to lead the Oak Ridge boys team to the title with 40 points.

Woodland's Dylan Drum finished second (18:00).

Caleb Coots was a double individual winner to lead the Tigers.

Coleman Schott took second in the 100 breaststroke and helped the Bulldogs' 200 medley relay finish second.
