All the local high school action from Wednesday that was reported to the Southeast Missourian.

Jackson scored a pair of early goals and made them stand up in its 3-0 victory against Notre Dame in boys soccer action Wednesday.

It was the Indians' third win against the Bulldogs this season.

"I thought we played pretty well passing the ball," Jackson coach Zack Walton said. "We did a good job possessing the ball and knocking it around, which is why I think we had as many chances as we did."

Ryan Schlick opened the scoring about five minutes into the contest, then Brice Steger added a goal about seven minutes later. Nick Rangel earned an assist on Steger's tally.

"We kind of messed up a coverage early in the game," Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn said. "Giving one up that early, I think, kind of hurt our confidence a little bit."

The Indians enjoyed a 2-0 lead at halftime. Jacob Scholl added Jackson's final goal.

Cody Boehme posted the shutout for the Indians (15-5).

James Diveley played the first half in goal before James Holloway played the final 40 minutes. Diveley made three saves and Holloway stopped five shots.

The loss ended Notre Dame's three-game winning streak.

"It seemed like we rushed things and weren't as patient in building up the play as we have been lately," Wittenborn said.

The Bulldogs dropped to 9-12 with the loss.

"We've played better than our record this year," Wittenborn said. "We've had some difficulty scoring, and I thought the last two or three games we played with a lot more confidence and really had built the attack a lot better."
