She was born Oct. 13, 1918, at Point Rest, Mo., daughter of the late Theodore Herbert and Esther Ella Rodewald Katt. She was married April 29, 1945, to Siegmund Vogel. He preceded her in death July 14, 1995...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Olida E. Vogel, 91, of Perryville died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at her home.

She was born Oct. 13, 1918, at Point Rest, Mo., daughter of the late Theodore Herbert and Esther Ella Rodewald Katt. She was married April 29, 1945, to Siegmund Vogel. He preceded her in death July 14, 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet O. Vogel; two brothers, Beauford Katt of Columbia, Mo., Raymond Katt of Racine, Wis.; two sisters, Viola Ann Peterson of Chester, Ill., and Euline Elsmayer of St. Louis.

Mrs. Vogel was a head floor machinist at Wagner Electric and had worked at McQuarris. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Chancel Guild, Immanuel Lutheran Choir, Bereans Bible Class, and was a farmer's wife.

Mrs. Vogel was employed by the Department of Defense during World War II in production of ammunition. She later became a supervisor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers, Melvin, Victor and Oliver Katt.

Friends may call from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran School Building Fund, Immanuel Lutheran Radio Broadcast or the American Heart Association.
