The Salvation Army Advisory Board has authorized Capt. E.R. Orchard, the Cape Girardeau commander, to secure the entire three-story Ragsdale building, where it now has its hall.
Buildings at the northwest corner of Broadway and Main Street are being torn down preparatory to construction of a large superservice unit by the Sinclair Oil Co.
100 years ago: Nov. 15, 1909
Postmasters E.W. Flentge of Cape Girardeau and Henry Puls of Jackson go to St. Louis, having been summoned there by an inspector of the railway mail service; it is rumored that officials of the railway mail service are considering the petition of Jackson citizens for mail service by automobiles from Cape Girardeau.
