Rodney Hopkins, 43, of Moulton, Ala., was traveling on I-55 northbound near the 99 mile marker when he overturned his 2008 Ford Ranger just after 2 p.m. Hopkins' dog, a small mixed breed, was also in the truck and was ejected, though Glueck said the dog received only minor injuries.

Hopkins had only superficial injuries and refused treatment, Glueck said. Hopkins was arrested and his dog was taken to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
