Southeast Missouri State University president Dr. Ken Dobbins has been named chair-elect of the board of directors of a national public university association.

Dobbins received the appointment at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities' annual meeting in November. The association represents more than 430 public colleges and universities throughout the country.

Dobbins was selected to serve a three-year term on the 16-member board in 2007.

In 2008, Dobbins was also secretary-treasurer of the association, which analyzes public policy, creates professional development opportunities, provides support for programs and promotes higher education.
