Two Malden residents killed in crash

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Two Malden, Mo., residents were killed Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash near Poplar Bluff, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on Highway 53, eight miles south of Poplar Bluff, when a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Nena Rivers was struck head-on by a vehicle driven by 71-year-old Earl Oswell. Oswell was attempting to pass and Rivers was coming in the opposite lane.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
