Central and St. Vincent advanced to the championship game of the Noon Optimist Spring Classic girls soccer tournament at Central with semifinal victories Saturday.

The teams will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday in the championship, following the 5:30 p.m. third-place game between Sikeston and Notre Dame.

Central defeated Sikeston 2-0 on Saturday. Kate Miller scored with an assist from Heather Deisher in the final minutes of the first half, and Lee Thomas scored midway through the second half. Miller assisted on the second goal.

Chelsea Burns recorded the shutout for the Tigers (5-1).

St. Vincent beat Notre Dame for the second time in nine days, edging the Bulldogs 1-0.

"We had some good chances to score," Notre Dame coach Jeff Worley said, "but St. Vincent did a good job of keeping the play in front of them."

The Bulldogs fell to 4-3-1.

Perryville defeated Farmington 3-1 in the consolation semifinals. The Pirates will play Marion, Ill., which beat Poplar Bluff 2-1, in the consolation championship at a date to be determined later.

Chris Schremp started the scoring 19 minutes into the game on a breakaway with an assist from Amber Hacker. Jocelyn Moll assisted Schremp for another goal about 15 minutes into the second half, and Megan Blechly scored five minutes later off a pass from Schremp.

Chastity Marr had 10 saves in goal for Perryville.

Kickapoo Tournament

Jackson went 2-1 and won the consolation championship in the Springfield Kickapoo Tournament in Springfield, Mo.

The Indians lost 2-1 to Parkway West on Friday, with Randi Kraust scoring Jackson's lone goal.

Jackson (6-1) rebounded Saturday with a 7-0 bruising of Ozark.

Molly Hartmann scored three goals, while Rebecca Richbourg, Lauren Brewett, Emily Dietl and Lucy Hartmann each added one.

Kylie Werner recorded the shutout.

In the consolation championship, Molly Hartmann and Kraust scored in a 2-1 win against Springfield Glendale.

"It was an exciting game at the end," said Jackson coach Zack Walton of the last game. "The defense played well, and we hung in there."
