David J. Lichtenegger, 59, of Pryor, Okla., died Monday, April 11, 2005, in Pryor. He was born May 26, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, son of Melvin and Norma Lichtenegger. David J. Lichtenegger, 59, of Pryor, Okla., died Monday, April 11, 2005, in Pryor.

He was born May 26, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, son of Melvin and Norma Lichtenegger. He and Fran Ashlock were married Nov. 23, 1968, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Lichtenegger was a graduate of Jackson High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.

He was an adjudicator with the Veterans Administration in Muskogee, Okla. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Lutheran Laymen's League, where he served two terms as governor of Texas and Oklahoma Region 10. He moved to Pryor in 1982 from Jackson.

Lichtenegger had been a member of Jackson Jaycees and received the Distinguished Service Award, and was a member of Jackson Chamber of Commerce. He was an Eagle Scout Order of the Arrow.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and received the Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John D. Lichtenegger of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Crystal Crites of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; his father of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, John P. Lichtenegger of Jackson, and James Lichtenegger of Belleville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother.

Friends may call at Stephens Memorial Chapel in Pryor from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Steven Hummel officiating. Burial will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Okla.
