Herbert "Shaw" Hale, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Heartland Care and Rehab. He was born Feb. 5, 1913, at Charleston, Mo., son of Dines and Nellie Pickens Hale. He and Cassie Dolly Andrews were married Feb. 5, 1935. Hale was a motor grader 35 years with Missouri State Highway Department at Morley, Mo. He moved to Cape Girardeau 27 years ago from Morley, and was a member of Red Star Baptist Church...

Herbert "Shaw" Hale, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Heartland Care and Rehab.

He was born Feb. 5, 1913, at Charleston, Mo., son of Dines and Nellie Pickens Hale. He and Cassie Dolly Andrews were married Feb. 5, 1935.

Hale was a motor grader 35 years with Missouri State Highway Department at Morley, Mo. He moved to Cape Girardeau 27 years ago from Morley, and was a member of Red Star Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry and Paul Hale of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Sue Sherry of Collinsville, Ill., Kathie Crader of Bald Knob, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Mo., after 4 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, with full military honors.
