A Cape Girardeau man behind bars for allegedly abusing a pregnant woman will go to trial this spring before Judge Ben Lewis, KZIM KSIM reported. On Monday, Lewis set a jury trial for April 29 in Jackson for Giles Triplett, 26. The victim reported to police in January that Triplett forced sexual intercourse on her several times over several weeks. The week prior, he allegedly strangled the 23-year-old woman by placing his hand around her throat, causing fingernail scratches on her neck. She also reported that Triplett had struck her in the face during arguments the same week. Triplett is on parole for second-degree domestic assault. He is charged in this case with felony sexual assault and domestic assault. Triplett faces up to seven years on each count.
