First wind concert to be Thursday

The first wind band concert of 2010 will include the Southeast Wind Symphony and the Concert Band with "Pageant" by Vincent Persichetti, "Sketches on a Tudo Psalm" by Fisher Tull and other works for both bands. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Bedell Performance Hall. Tickets are $8 at the box office, by calling 651-2265 or online at metrotix.com.

EUREKA, Mo. -- The 10th annual Spring Indoor Bluegrass Festival will once again bring talented bluegrass musicians to the Holiday Inn Six Flags in Eureka. The Missouri Area Bluegrass Committee, a not-for-profit organization, sponsors the yearly event, which starts at 7 p.m. March 19 with a teens talent contest. Festival seeking quilts for display

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- The 42nd annual Dogwood-Azalea Festival, April 15 to 18 in Charleston, will include a quilt show featuring area quilters' work. Items need to be brought to the United Methodist Church in Charleston, where they will hang during the festival. Volunteers will take items starting in the morning April 12 through noon April 13 and will hang quilts that evening. Attach one 3-by-5-inch label with owner's name, address and telephone number and the age of the quilt to the item with a safety pin and turn in a copy of the label to organizers.
