Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle was reappointed Tuesday to a 13-member Missouri Supreme Court Committee assigned to write jury procedure used in criminal cases in Missouri.

He is one of two prosecutors in Missouri appointed to the committee, which also makes any necessary amendments to the Missouri Rules of Criminal Procedure.

"I have enjoyed serving on this committee," said Swingle, who was first appointed in 1999. "Some of the smartest people I have ever met are on the committee, and it's a pleasure to watch their minds work and listen to their ideas."

Swingle's new term will end Dec. 31, 2012.

Any instructions drafted by the committee must be approved by the Supreme Court and the final product is published as the Missouri Approved Jury Instructions-Criminal and the Missouri Rules of Criminal Procedure.
