Roxy's Big Country Saloon stomped onto the weekend entertainment scene at the end of February and promises to be a country-good time for any involved. On Saturday the bar will feature country rock group Powder Mill from Van Buren, Mo. The band -- Jesse Hammock II on lead vocals and guitar, Jeff Chapman on guitar and vocals, Pat McSpadden on bass and vocals and Andrew Bedell on percussion -- ranges from forlorn ballads to quick-tempo, whiskey-drinking tunes one expects to hear screaming out of a country bar's doors.. ...

But this ain't your average Southern jam band. The foursome channels the Drive-By Truckers, but they earn their own dirt-and-grit credentials with songs about growing up in Southeast Missouri and the South.

The band plays around 9 p.m. Saturday at Roxy's on Main Street.
