Nearly 150 pork butt and shoulders are available for purchase during an upcoming fundraiser for signs honoring soldiers who died while serving overseas.

The Grill Sergeants and the Christ Lutheran Church of Gordonville have teamed up for the sale scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Todd Blattel of the Christ Lutheran Church men's group said that between 250 and 300 pork butts and shoulders already have been ordered. Anyone wishing to pick up the food may do so between 2 and 5 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Cape Girardeau, 2626 Independence St.

The fundraiser is just one of many for the Heroes Way Interchange Designation Program, which provides signs near interstate interchanges that are named in honor of those who died in military service while serving in Afghanistan or Iraq after Sept. 11, 2001.
