Less than a week after being robbed for the fifth time since 1998, police say an unhappy customer assaulted a security guard at the Bank of America at Kingshighway and Cape Rock Drive.

A short time later, the customer, Richard Andrusejko of Jackson, was stopped by police, where he collapsed and was taken to a local hospital.

Patrolman Jay Freeman said the incident started at the Bank of America shortly after noon Thursday. Freeman said that Andrusejko, who is deaf, was unhappy that a check he had placed stop payment on was cashed anyway.

Freeman said that Andrusejko grew irate and an exchange with bank employees got heated and then Andrusejko assaulted a security guard by pushing him in the chest. When Andrusejko was told by his son, who was interpreting for him, that police had been called, he left the bank. A short time later, Andrusejko was stopped on South Sprigg Street in front of police headquarters.

Freeman said he told another officer to place Andrusejko under arrest. That's when Andrusejko had what paramedics called "a sinkable episode."

Freeman said he did not know what caused Andrusejko to collapse or what his condition was.
