Kenneth M. Sides, 75, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, March 15, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Dec. 16, 1934, in Allenville, son of Cobie and Flora Pettie Sides. He married the former Helen Marie Prince, who preceded him in death. He and Shirley Haynes were married July 21, 2001.
Sides was a lifelong resident of Missouri. He was retired from Southeast Missouri State University and a member of Second Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Patricia Ruth Lewis of Las Vegas; a son, Robert C. Sides of Tulsa, Okla.; four stepchildren, Kenneth (Angela) Haynes of Irving, Texas, Vincent Haynes and Jason Stafford of Fort Worth, Texas, David (Michelle) Haynes of Grand Prairie, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a daughter, five brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at Second Baptist Church, 835 Beaudean Lane.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Cecil Thomas, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo., with full military honors.
