MALDEN, Mo. -- A small one-seater airplane came down and burned in a field north of Malden late Friday morning, the Daily Statesman newspaper reported. MALDEN, Mo. -- A small one-seater airplane came down and burned in a field north of Malden late Friday morning, the Daily Statesman newspaper reported.

Unconfirmed reports at the scene gave the name of the pilot as Josh Atchley, who was flying out of the Gideon Airport. Atchley reportedly walked away from the scene with relatively minor injuries.

The plane came down in a field almost due north of the Malden Speedway and west of County Road 125.

Malden fire and ambulance responded to the scene. Several deputies from the Dunklin County Sheriff's Department and Sheriff Bob Holder investigated the crash scene. The incident also was reported to the FAA.

A full report was expected from the sheriff's department by this morning.
