High school roundup: Rams roll Bulldogs

Freshman Brett Dirnberger used his speed and quick bat to power Scott City past Portageville 14-6 in baseball action Friday.

Dirnberger went 3 for 4 and stole three bases in the Rams' win.

Landon Robert knocked in four runs with a pair of hits, while Heath Pobst and Chris Limbaugh both homered for Scott City (8-2).

Andrew Williams did a little of everything for the Tigers.

The junior picked up the win on the mound and went 3 for 4 with a pair of runs scored.

Oak Ridge and Leopold advanced to the title game with semifinal victories.

Greg Davis improved to 4-0 by pitching the Wildcats past Saxony Lutheran 7-2.

Davis and John Bohnsack both went 2 for 4 in the win.

Spencer Sander led the Crusaders with three hits.

Brett Thomas led the Blue Jays past Woodland 7-2. The junior earned the win on the mound while homering and driving in three at the plate.

Jeff Long tripled but took the loss for the Cardinals.

Malden Invitational

Oran split a pair of games to move to 5-5 this season.

The Eagles dropped a 6-4 decision to Cooter and beat New Madrid 8-6.

Gabe Kielhofner earned the win in relief against New Madrid after his team rallied for four runs in the seventh inning.

Dalton Elfrink and Adam Schaefer knocked in a pair for Oran, which only scored three earned runs in the game. Trenton Hency collected three hits.

Trent Irwin took the loss against Cooter. He struck out six and allowed six runs, four earned, over six innings.

Kielhofner, Blake Carlyle and Schaefer each drove in a run.

The Indians won their opener at the Kickapoo tournament behind a pair of goals by Kasey Crowden.

Hannah Roach added Jackson's other goal.

The game was scoreless at halftime and Jackson struck first in the second half. But Glendale, ranked No. 11 in Class 3 in the latest state poll, answered before Jackson scored two more.

Erin Eakens earned one assist for Jackson (6-2).

Morgan Riddick recorded four saves to earn the win.

Villa Duchesne 2, Notre Dame 1

Allyson Bradshaw scored the Bulldogs' lone goal in the road loss.

Brianne Sanders assisted on Bradshaw's goal.

Lindsey Strieker was in goal for Notre Dame (4-5).

Saxony Lutheran 3, Kennett 2

The Crusaders nipped the Indians 4-3 on penalty kicks to earn the victory.

Brooke Valleroy scored both goals for Saxony Lutheran, while Katie Winter and Kristy Winter both earned an assist.

Valleroy, Katie Winter, Regan Obermann and Lauren Hecht converted their penalty kicks for the Crusaders.

Mackenzie Beel went 4 for 5 with two RBIs to lead Leopold to an 8-4 win against Woodland.

Elizabeth Eftink smacked a triple and went 3 for 4, while Taylor Eftink had two RBIs for the Wildcats.

Becky Brannon tripled for the Cardinals.

Meadow Heights scored in every inning to dispatch Oak Ridge 12-11.

Jessica Baremore earned the win in the circle.

Shelby Proctor went 2 for 4 with a triple for the Blue Jays (1-6).

Sikeston Relays

The Saxony Lutheran girls 3,200 relay team of Cassie Simpher, Abby Hartman, Lucy Gage and Tori Winter took first place in 10 minutes, 51.7 seconds.

The Crusaders' distance medley relay of Rachel Gruenwald, Allyson Bock, Gage and Winter also won (14:52.9).

Central's Mary Dohogne won the 1,600 (5:29), while the Tigers placed first in the 1,600 relay (4:18.30), pole vault (16-6) and discus (250-6).

On the boys side, the Saxony 3,200 relay team of Brandon Fritsche, Joe Buerck, Mark Buerck and Rhett Obermann was victorious (8:42.6).

Central's pole vault relay (38-0) and distance medley (11:55) were winners.
