Della Jones, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, May 20, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Sept. 5, 1919, in Sardis, Miss., daughter of Ben and Elgenie Brooks Walton. She and Curtis Jones were married in 1938. He preceded her in death.

Jones was a member of Bowman Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include seven daughters, Irene Lampley and Lillie Talley of Chicago, Sally Carew, Dorothy Perez, Selma Lopez, Viola Corporan, all of New York, Della Carroway of Atlanta, Ga.; four sons, Curtis Jones Jr. of Columbus, Miss., Ivory and Charles Jones of Cape Girardeau, Bennie Jones of New York; two brothers, Ed and Dorvie Walton; a sister, Fannie Holmes; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, and several brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at Massie Funeral Home in Mounds from noon until service time Thursday.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Thomas and James Blue officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
