Robert C. Nicholas, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born April 30, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, son of Fred and Ethel Matthews Nicholas. He and Betty Morton were married Sept. 22, 1950, in Cape Girardeau. She died Dec. 11, 2001.

Nicholas was a graduate of Central High School, and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He was president of Cougar Industries. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and past member of Cape Jaycees and Cape Girardeau Pilots Club.

He served in the U.S. Army from February 1951 to February 1953.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Nicholas of Cape Girardeau, Robert Nicholas of Jackson; a daughter, Rebecca Sweet of Cape Girardeau; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There is no visitation.

A private graveside service will be held at Cape County Memorial Park, with the Rev. Eric Snyder officiating.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
