Thelma Aline Pipkin, 94, of Jackson died Friday, May 27, 2005, at her daughter's home in Jackson.

She was born Jan. 9, 1911, daughter of Jess and Grace Edna Morton Strain, at the family farm near Summersville, Mo. She and Albert Newton Pipkin were married on Aug. 12, 1943. He died Aug. 6, 1961.

Pipkin was a nanny in St. Louis for several families before going to work for Wagner Corp. during World War II. After the death of her husband she worked in sales for Dolly Madison and Famous Barr in St. Louis. She was a member of Marvin Park United Methodist Church in St. Louis County before moving to Jackson in 1996.

Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Wanda Pipkin of Jackson, Charlotte Lair of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Roy Strain of St. Louis; three sisters, Dorothy Laidley, Lois Hertel and Lena Shaw, all of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and an infant sister.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson with Dan Greene officiating. There will be a visitation immediately following the funeral service until 8 p.m. A committal service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Summersville Cemetery in Summersville.
