J.C. Cowles, River Division superintendent for the Frisco Railroad, says demolition of the passenger station on South Main Street is expected to start the middle of next week; demolition had been scheduled to start Monday.

A painting and remodeling program that included the removal of an old porch has been completed at the Sunny Hill Feed and Seed Store, at Good Hope and Frederick streets; the program started early in the year after the firm was incorporated with Fred C. McGowan, the president, and William Brinkopf as the majority stockholders.

75 years ago: June 10, 1935

The flooding Mississippi River is expected to crest at Cape Girardeau late today at 36.5 feet; floodwaters cover most of the block on Water Street between Themis and Independence streets and part of the Frisco Park near the passenger depot.

The blowing of locomotive whistles at 8 a.m. ushers in Railroad Week in Cape Girardeau; a large locomotive is on display in the Missouri Pacific yards on Independence Street, and an engineer is there to explain it to visitors.

100 years ago: June 10, 1910

Robert J. Nebel, 76, for more than a half-century a farmer of Cape Girardeau County, died yesterday at his home near Dutchtown; fulfilling his wish to be buried among his fellow members of the Grand Army of the Republic, the Civil War veteran is buried at the City Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

John Buerckle, manager of the Black Diamond Coal and Ice Co., has taken charge of the vast beds of gravel along the Saline River in Ste. Genevieve County, situated on the Saline Valley branch of the Houck railroad; much of the product will be shipped to Cape Girardeau.
