Cox graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1968. Mrs. Cox received a degree in physical therapy from Washington University in St. Louis in 1965.
They have two children, Christy (Matt) McKay of Richmond, Ky., and Karen (Jeff) Shook of Pleasant Hill, Mo. They have seven grandchildren, Anna, Jared and Levi McKay; Jessica, Kallie, Joseph and Kyle Shook.
