Morris pitches Post 63 to victory

The Cape Girardeau Post 63 Ford & Sons Senior American Legion baseball team rebounded for a win Saturday at the Paragould, Ark., tournament.

Logan Morris struck out three over five innings to help Post 63 earn an 8-0 victory over Blytheville, Ark.

Trenton St. Cin powered Post 63 with a two-run homer. He finished with four RBIs.

Blake Smith went 3 for 3 with two RBIs.

The win came after a 5-4 loss to West Memphis on Friday.

Jamie Pickel suffered the loss for Post 63. He allowed two earned runs over six innings.

Morris went 2 for 3 with two RBIs in the defeat, while Jimmy Obermark, St. Cin and Josh Compas all collected one hit.

Post 63 wraps up play at the tournament today before returning to district play Wednesday when it hosts Sikeston for a doubleheader.

Cape Junior Legion falls at tourney

The Cape Girardeau Post 63 Plaza Tire Junior American Legion baseball team went 0-3 at the Fourth of July tournament in Paducah, Ky.

Post 63 fell to the Southern Kentucky Sluggers 8-0 on Saturday.

Ryan Moses took the loss after going two-thirds of an inning and allowing four runs, one earned.

Aaron Wendell and Adam Pennington both singled for Post 63's only two hits.

Post 63 dropped a 7-3 contest to Newburg, Ind., on Friday.

Hunter Cox took the loss in relief. He went five innings and allowed four runs, three earned.

Christian Cavaness, Austin Atchley and Luke Hinkebein each knocked in a run for Post 63, which dropped to 15-14 overall.
