JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon wants lawmakers to come to an agreement this week on new incentives for the automotive industry. But that does not appear likely.

Nixon traveled Wednesday to an automotive supplier in Dexter, where he asserted that Ford Motor Co. will be making decisions "in the coming weeks" about where to build vehicles in future years.

He called on state lawmakers to agree this week on a bill offering incentives for Ford's plant near Kansas City and for other automakers.

But that legislation remains stalled in a Senate committee. And neither the Senate nor House plans to meet in a full session this week. The soonest that could occur is next week, but nothing has been scheduled.
