Casino bids
I heard the casino presentations at the Osage Community Centre. The differences were dramatic. The first company didn't have its act together. The Isle of Capri is a reputable company and certainly has a lot to offer Cape Girardeau.
Too much nitpicking
DAVID Limbaugh suggests the Obama administration grows more arrogant, cavalier and fundamentally dishonest every day. My mom used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all." He should read today's prayer every day instead of nitpicking our president.
Mount Auburn
THE new surface on Mount Auburn Road looks pretty, but when it rains the grade isn't correct, and the water doesn't flow into the drain. It looks like the city is going to have to tear it up again.
No robo-calls
POLITICAL robo-calls have already started. This is dangerous. You can't cut them off. What if you need to use your phone and you can't cut off these calls. Politicians, if you want my vote, end those robo-calls.

Paying the price
THIS money market has been hard on retired people who saved their money to add income to their retirement. Now they've got to pay penalties for people that were reckless. There's nothing fair about that. You're making working-class people pay the price. I don't understand this country at all.
No new taxes
COLUMNIST Michael Jensen seems ambivalent about whether or not Congress should accept the recommendations of the president's bipartisan tax commission. In general, I think he will be favorably disposed to the committee's forthcoming recommendations as long as they don't have the effect of raising his taxes.
Underage drinking
I would like to warn parents of older teens. Please be aware that there are bars letting your underage teens into their establishments and either serving them alcohol or looking the other way when they see them consuming the liquor. The city has managed to shut down a couple of key offenders, and for that I am extremely grateful. But where there is one snake you always find a pit of them, and snakes seem to be bad this year. The city is doing the best it can, but it is hard to fight so much evil. They need your help. Please keep your eyes open.
City rights
I let my dog poop all over Jackson Park. If the city allows people to smoke in restaurants, shoot fireworks until midnight and burn leaves and calls these things "rights." then my dog has a right to poop in the park, and I have a right to leave it there.
