Freda Hawkins

Freda O. Hawkins, 90, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the home of a daughter in Bertrand, Mo.

She was born March 19, 1920, in Patton, Mo., daughter of Marvin and Permelia Ridings Jackson.

Freda was a former resident of Advance, Mo., and in 1971 relocated to Cape Girardeau. She worked 12 years in the housekeeping department at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Nelda (Dave) Hawkins of St. Charles, Mo., Velma (Glenn) Rhodes of Bertrand; a sister, Melba Beard of Jackson; four grandsons, Todd (Jill) Hawkins, Tim (Heather) Hawkins, Brett (Melissa) Rhodes, Brian (Mary Ann) Rhodes; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, a great-granddaughter, two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Zion Church Cemetery near Scopus, Mo.
