Bessie Kraus

ORAN, Mo. -- Bessie Mae Kraus, 96, of Oran died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Hagarville, Ark., daughter of Gilbert and Lou Clark Patterson. She and Amos J. Kraus were married June 29, 1934. He died Dec. 5, 1998.

Bessie was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Bell City, Mo.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Amy (Steve) Ressel and Audrey (Pat) Seyer; a daughter-in-law, Sue Kraus, all of Oran; a sister, Orena Halford of Sikeston, Mo.; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Dwayne Kraus; a sister; and four brothers.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, Mo.
