Mabel Ellen Miller, 92, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born March 7, 1918, in Scopus, Mo., daughter of George Henry and Elmine Welker Moore. Mabel and Willard Leo Miller were married April 4, 1944, in Jonesboro, Ark.

Mabel worked at Southeast Missouri Hospital 28 years. She was a member of Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church. Mabel and Leo enjoyed visiting various churches in the area and attending gospel music concerts.

Mabel enjoyed quilting and being outdoors, growing beautiful flowers and working in her vegetable garden. When she wasn't able to be outside, she stayed busy reading and working her word puzzles. Always a smile on her face and a kind word, she loved her family and she will be missed dearly.

Survivors include two daughters, Wilma F. LeDure of Scott City, Sandra K. Morton of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Jimmie L. (Angela) Miller of Cape Girardeau, Bobby J. (Linda) Miller of Jackson, Hurcell V. (Stacie) Miller of St. Peters, Mo., Gary L. (Belinda) Miller of Cape Girardeau; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Diana Lynn Miller; her husband Leo; three sisters; and three brothers.

Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. today until service time at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe McCullough officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
