With the countywide turnout average at 29.25 percent for Tuesday's primary, three precincts had close to 40 percent of their voters cast ballots. According to the Cape Girardeau County clerk's office, the New Wells Precinct in the north of the county had the highest showing in the county with 39.85 percent. Cape Girardeau precinct 15, which is near Alma Schrader school, had 39.03 percent turnout, while Gordonville had 38.75 percent. The lowest voter turnout was at Cape Precinct 9. The West End Boulevard precinct had 8.66 percent. The Missouri secretary of state's office said voter turnout across the state was 22.9 percent.
