* Fall baseball: The Jackson Fall Baseball leagues will hold registration for the upcoming season Saturday and Aug. 15 at the center court at West Park Mall. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 15. The leagues are for players ages 8 to 14. A player's age is determined as of April 30, 2010. Registration forms also can be found at www.jblbaseball.org and mailed to the address on the website. Deadline: Aug. 18.

* Baseball instruction: The Jackson American Legion instructional fall league will begin Aug. 16 for players in grades 3 to 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jackson's Legion Field. Players in grades 9 to 12 will meet Mondays and Thursdays, players in grades 6 to 8 will meet Tuesdays and Wednesdays and players in grades 3 to 5 will meet Fridays. Cost: $150 for 10 sessions. Football

* Cape Youth Tackle Football: Registration for the Cape Youth Tackle Football League's 30th year is open. The league is open to players entering grades 2 through 7. Registration dates at the Osage Community Centre are Aug. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Aug. 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. Cost: $65 for grades 2 and 3, and $85 for grades 4 through 7. All football equipment is provided, except cleats. Teams will play six games. Team practices begin Aug. 31. Info: Troy Vaughn, 334-3479.

* Youth flag football: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department's NFL Youth Flag Football league for players ages 5 to 12 is under way. Participants can register 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the A.C. Brase Building. Registration will continue through Aug. 20. Games will be played Saturday afternoons beginning in September. Cost: $50, which includes an NFL replica jersey and flag belt. Info: Chris, 334-2523.

* Adult flag football: Registration is open for the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department's adult flag football league, which begins play Sept. 26. Games will be held Sunday afternoons/evenings and Thursday evenings at Arena Park. Players must be at least 17 years old. Cost: $250 per team. Teams will receive a minimum of eight games.
