JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and his wife are heading on a float trip.

The governor and Georganne Nixon planned to start their trip Monday on the Current River in southern Missouri. State conservation and parks leaders were expected to join the Nixons on the seven-mile float.

Nixon also planned to meet with members of a local "stream team," which helps pick up trash and stabilize stream banks.

The trip was to start near the border of Dent and Shannon counties.
