BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Thurman A. Almond, 89, of Bloomfield passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born April 20, 1921, at Aid, Mo., son of Autie A. and Ora Bailey Almond. He and Mayme Juldene Long were married Dec. 6, 1941, in Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death Jan. 15, 2002...

BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Thurman A. Almond, 89, of Bloomfield passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 20, 1921, at Aid, Mo., son of Autie A. and Ora Bailey Almond. He and Mayme Juldene Long were married Dec. 6, 1941, in Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death Jan. 15, 2002.

Mr. Almond had lived in Bloomfield most of his life. He was a retired truck driver and attended First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield.

Survivors include a son, Mike Almond of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Connie Almond of Sikeston, Mo.; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Underwood of Puxico, Mo., Leah Robertson of Sikeston; a brother, Charles Almond of Portland, Ore.; an aunt, Geneva Pruitt of Dexter, Mo.; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Ann Almond; and a brother.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Eskew of Bloomfield officiating. Interment will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.
