Central announces hall of fame class

Central High School will induct eight people into its athletic hall of fame during a ceremony Sept. 11 at the high school.

This year's induction class is Wayne Boswell, class of 1958, Jack Burris, class of 1950, Nichole Thiele Clippard, class of 1997, Kim Godwin, class of 1969, Bob Goodwin, a coach from 1959 to 1966, Walt Grebing, class of 1958, Weldon Hager, a coach and administrator from 1952 to 1992, and Sherri Boeller Shirrell, class of 1982.

There will be an induction breakfast and ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Sept 11 at the high school.

Tickets are available at the high school athletic department office for $8, which includes the ceremony, breakfast and a ticket to that day's Central football game.

Bryant, Cook win horseshoe tourney

The team of Tim Bryant and Lachelle Cook took first place in the SEMO Horseshoe Association's tournament at the Scott City Knights of Columbus.

The team of Jerome Backfisch and Joe Bean was second, while Ron LeGrand and Terrie Rose were third in the 18-team event.

The team of Beaver Glastetter and Cori Stoverink won the tournament at the Oran Knights of Columbus.

Lester Powell and Rose were second, while Mike Davault and Brian Beussink took third.

The next tournament will be Saturday at the Backyard Club.
