Special Olympics athlete is happy family can attend state games

Editor's note: This is the sixth and last in a series of profiles of local athletes who will participate along with about 700 others in the Special Olympics State Outdoor Championships to be held Friday through Sunday in Cape Girardeau.

Sports played: Softball, basketball and football.

Question: What's your favorite sport?

Answer: Basketball and football.

Q: What do you do to train for the games?

A: I come to practice. I play basketball at home and play catch by myself.

Q: What's your favorite thing about Special Olympics?

A: Playing with my friends.

Q: What's the best part about the Special Olympics State Outdoor Championships being in Cape Girardeau?

A: We don't have to travel to Columbia. My cousins and my brother get to come watch.

Q: What do you like to do when you're not training or competing in Special Olympics?

A: Going to car races and demolition derbies. Playing video games.
