A one-car accident Monday claimed the life of an 84-year-old Marble Hill, Mo., woman. According to the the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Beatrice C. James was killed when the car she was a passenger in ran off Highway 34 near Marble Hill at 1 p.m. The car overturned several times, partially ejecting James, who was not wearing a seat belt. A one-car accident Monday claimed the life of an 84-year-old Marble Hill, Mo., woman. According to the the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Beatrice C. James was killed when the car she was a passenger in ran off Highway 34 near Marble Hill at 1 p.m. The car overturned several times, partially ejecting James who was not wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger, Velma K. Sontag, 69, of Marble Hill, received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

The car was driven by 38-year-old Kristie L. Jany of Marble Hill. She and another passenger, 91-year-old Marvin H. Hill, received minor injuries. They both were taken to Saint Francis.

Sontag, Jany and Hill were wearing seat belts.
