BENTON, Mo. -- Commissioners will seek references on a company offering to add video to the Scott County government website.

The Sikeston Standard Democrat reported commissioners viewed some examples of work by CGI Communications of Rochester, N.Y., during their regular meeting Tuesday.

Nicole Rongo, marketing manager for the company, guided county officials through some county websites via speaker phone to view some of her company's videos.

Joel Evans, county developer, said CGI Communications is working in association with the National Association of Counties to offer the services marketed as the County Showcase program.

"They would produce and host a series of videos to augment our current website," Evans said. "It would be at no charge to the county but in exchange, they would like to sell similar videos to for-profit corporations in the county."

"It's something we'll have to look at," said Commissioner Donnie Kiefer. "I think it would be something that would be good for the county but they will be out soliciting ads."

Kiefer said as the county will soon be looking for companies to advertise on county plat maps, "I think it would be something great to have but I don't know if the timing is right now."

Presiding Commissioner Jamie Burger suggested they contact counties who are currently participating in the program and see how things are working out for them.
