ROCKVIEW, Mo. -- William Leonard Tucker, 79, of Rockview died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo. He was born April 14, 1931, at Rockview, son of Leonard August and Lena Caroline Hoefler Tucker. Leonard was a switchman with Terminal Railroad Co. in St. Louis. ROCKVIEW, Mo. -- William Leonard Tucker, 79, of Rockview died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo.

He was born April 14, 1931, at Rockview, son of Leonard August and Lena Caroline Hoefler Tucker.

Leonard was a switchman with Terminal Railroad Co. in St. Louis. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, St. Ambrose Men's Club, Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810 and Chaffee American Legion Post 389.

He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include two sons, Tim Tucker of Miami, Ben Tucker of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four daughters, Jenifer (Wayne) Edmundson of Cape Girardeau, Valerie (Joe) Dirnberger of New Hamburg, Mo., Karen (James) Hamke and Sonya (Eric) Norman, all of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Clara Lux of Chicago, Mary Desemone of St. Louis; and 13 grandchildren, Pam, Cindy, Rod, Ethan, Connor, Brandon (Cara), Amber (Trent), Carrissa, Bryce, Jessica, Jordan, Trent and Kirstin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, five sisters and two grandsons.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. An Elks service will be at 7:30, followed by the rosary at 8.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield. The Missouri Honors Team will be in charge of full military rites.
