* Adult flag football: Registration is open for the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department's adult flag football league, which begins play Sept. 26. Games will be held Sunday afternoons/evenings and Thursday evenings at Arena Park. Players must be at least 17 years old. Cost: $250.00 per team. Teams will receive a minimum of eight games. Deadline: Sept. 7. Info: Heather Davis, 339-6340.

* Punt, pass, kick competition: The NFL punt, pass and kick competition will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Central Junior High School. Boys and girls ages 6 to 15 are invited to participate. Competitors may not wear cleats and must prove age. Winners advance to the sectional round Oct. 4. Info: Ron MacCubbin, 339-0530.

* Counseling foundation tourney: The Community Counseling Center Foundation's benefit tournament will take place Oct. 1 at Cape Girardeau Country Club. The four-person shamble will begin at 1 p.m. after an 11:30 a.m. lunch. Cost: $100. Deadline: Sept. 20. Info: Larry Essner, 339-6512.

Miscellaneous

* Central hall of fame: Tickets are on sale for the Central athletic hall of fame ceremony and breakfast, which will take place at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at the high school. Tickets are available at the high school athletic director's office for $8, which includes the ceremony, breakfast and a ticket to that day's Central football game. Deadline: Sept. 7.

* Officials meeting: The Heartland Officials Association will hold its first meeting for fall softball and baseball at 6 p.m. Sunday in room 107 at the Southeast Missouri State Student Rec Center. The meeting is open to all softball and baseball umpires of any level, but the group is targeting any new or beginning officials who are interested in learning or improving their skills. New applications for membership will be available at the meeting and dues will be collected at that time. Info: Rick Heuring, 264-3643 or 450-8134.
