SIKESTON, Mo. -- A Scott County man was injured in a Thursday night shooting, and law enforcement is searching for the suspect today.

The Scott County Sheriff's Department received a call at 9:47 p.m. Thursday from a woman who reported her husband had been shot in their home in the Woodhaven subdivision off County Road 524 near Blodgett. "She said he was sitting on the couch watching TV and someone shot through the window," Sheriff Rick Walter said.

The man had three "very small" pellets from a shotgun in his upper body, according to Walter.

Within minutes, Scott County deputies, as well as those from the Miner Police Department and troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol were on the scene.

"We had a perimeter set up," Walter said. They were able to pinpoint the shooter's location close to the residence, but search dogs were unsuccessful in following the shooter's path.

"None of the neighbors saw anything, either," Walter said.

The victim's injuries were not serious. Walter said he was transported by ambulance to a Cape Girardeau hospital, from which the victim was expected to be released today.
