Good to separate

I think segregating students is a good idea, but schools are not being realistic. There is always going to be drama. The hormonal clock is ticking. I applaud the Jackson School District for trying this. The only thing better would be to have a boys school and a girls school.

Making ends meet

I'M responding to the comment urging parents whose adult children have moved home to give them two weeks to get a job or make them move out. Have you read a newspaper lately? Do you have a clue how hard it is to get a job right now? My adult children have not moved home, but I lost my job nine months ago. I have applied for everything under the sun. I finally got a minimum-wage job. If I were on my own, I would not make enough money to pay rent, utilities, car insurance and other requirements. I'm not even factoring in a car payment.

GOP tinkering

SOMEONE said the Republican Party was the party of "Just say no" in part because it doesn't want anyone desecrating our sacred Constitution. In the last several years, the Republican Party has attempted to amend our Constitution a whopping 42 times. One of the proposals would have repealed the 17th Amendment, an amendment that provides for the direct election of U.S. Senators by the people. Another recent Republican proposals would be to redefine citizenship as put forth in the all-important 14th Amendment. When it comes to the U.S. Constitution, it is fair to ask if the party of "Just say no" has any respect for the Constitution as currently constituted. The answer? It doesn't.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the three men and one woman who stopped to help me in front of Famous Barr. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have lain in the parking lot of the mall. Thank you for stopping and giving me your time and energy.

Using the revenue

IF Alan Journet thinks the federal government will use the additional revenue from cap and trade to solve global warming, he needs to read his history books. These funds will likely be used for politicians' pet projects. As Ronald Reagan used to say, "Getting between politicians and tax revenue is like getting between hogs and the slop bucket."
